The Amsterdam record label Mokum Records was founded in 1992.
The first release was released in the beginning of 1993, when Hardcore and gabber scene just started to take off in the Netherlands.
In a few years Mokum records exploded and especially the Hardcore gabber scene and huge gabber parties and raves of 20.000 gabbers during the weekend were no longer an exception. Gabber really became a subculture with its own music and clothes. Mokum records released many records, compilation albums and artist albums and built up an awesome catalogue with international hardcore DJs such as:
DJ Chosen Few, Technohead, DJ Dano, Tellurian, Flamman & Abraxas, The Speedfreak, The Prophet, Buzz Fuzz, Scott Brown, Liza N Eliaz, the Outside Agency, Lenny Dee and many more ..
In the first 6 years Mokum Records has released about 100 12 ”with real classic gabber records such as“ Name of the DJ and “I Wanna Be a Hippy” (number 1 world hit). Technohead’s I Wanna Be a Hippy sold 1.3 million CD singles worldwide, making it the best-selling Hardcore / gabber CD / record! Even better than the hundreds of compilation albums such as Thunderdome.
More than 800 tracks have been released on Mokum Records since 1992.
They also released an awesome merchandise and clothing line that is available on the official 100% Hardcore webshop. At our shop you can buy a classic Mokum longsleeve or a cool Cenobite T-shirt.
